Trust in the Lord

Updated: Jan 30, 2020

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Dealing with the unknown is hard. We all desire to have understanding about things going on in our lives. In the midst of struggles, it is natural to want to understand what is happening, why it is happening, and how we can control or fix it. However, there are so often situations and trials that do not make sense to us, like having to battle with health issues we can't explain.

While we may not completely understand them, it is in the midst of these struggles that we have the opportunity to experience God in a whole new way. They give us a chance to grow in practicing the presence of God and humbly surrender our lack of understanding to Him. In every situation, God desires for us to trust Him fully. He asks us to acknowledge Him and His sovereignty. When we do so, we can trust that He will direct us and sustain us.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

2 Corinthians 12:9

Our weaknesses and lack of understanding are a chance for us to make His strength, His glory, and His grace known, in our lives and to those around us.

Join me in trusting God with all our hearts, and not leaning on our limited understanding. Let us practice the presence of God and glorify Him by using our trials to point people to Christ.
