And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

As parents, when our kids are playing a sport like soccer, basketball, football, or many others, things happen in these sports that cause us to feel temptations of selfishness or pride. I have been challenged over the years to teach my children how to trust a sovereign God through sports, whether it is in a success or a failure.
The challenge is to lift up the chin and look up to the things eternal. Be honest with the Lord with how you are feeling in that moment of joy or despair, and remember that He works all things together for good.
I have been enjoying the beautiful autumn trees recently. The God of those beautiful trees along with all the rest of creation loves you. When we are in a situation where things don't go our way either for our team or our family, let's have an eternal perspective, love God, and believe that God will work it all together for His glory.
